Drew, last I talked with tech support I asked them that same question again. Supposedly they are aware of that issue but they had no idea when it will or if it will be resolved. Only fix right now is SMB scanning.
Ohh.., if it were that easy. The IT security I run into over here in the UK is pretty tight. This one of the major problems with SMB scanning, either the IT people don't want to give permanent rights to a user profile/ or they don't want a shared drive on a local PC. Now I'm pretty sure SFU must have some security risks associated with it, but even the most anal of IT admins seem to not mind it as much.

I hate that excuse. To me, setting up a scanner user/pass is pretty secure, because you give it read/write privileges to very specific folders. To my knowledge, it doesn't need execute privileges!
well, with my last chat to tech support, I brought this issue up again and they stated that if you look under Scanner Utilities in the Technical Resources and choose the 1128 that the SFU doesn't even appear cause it's not suppose to be supported. I told that young chap that it will work, but only with the file type set to TIFF. He tried to set it up in the shop there and said that it doesn't work. Well it will, utilizing the FTP as with the falcon 3s and others. The SFU doesn't show up listed under the KM-2560/3060 Scanner utilities list either, but I have successfully set those up to use the SFU. I'm sure that it is just a setting that has been over looked or a key line in the firmware that needs added, but they aren't gonna waste their time on it.
Well, I just went through the Maintenance Mode Item List and found nothing concerning "Enterprise Mode" which I think is necessary to have in order to properly work with the SFU. I could be wrong, but it makes me wonder why it doesn't work with PDF format selected.
Ya, no error at the device when the scan occurs, like it went succesfully, look in the destination folder and nothing. Funny thing is that Tech Support couldn't make the SFU work sending TIFFs though either, but I had no problem setting this up to work, just wish the damn PDFs would go somewhere, preferrably to the destination folder.
The standard answer from KM is that any of the smaller wisecore machines do not support SFU. I find it really funny that all of us can make tiffs and xps scan using SFU and KM can not.

That is strange I wonder what their next explanation is as the ta5550ci isn't exactly a small wisecore. Funny how the 500ci etc had this supported and then they don't carry it over to the next model. Surely there's got to be a way!
Scanner File Utilty does work. If you check the date modified on the folder it will show the date you scanned even though there is no file. You MUST use SFU 4.11.02 in order for it not to disapear in to cyberspace. I have used it all the way up to the new TA3500 CI. I am unsure of the FS-1128 though. I will have to test and get back to you.
