I was wondering if anyone knows of any kind of problems with the KX driver for Windows 7 64bit. I'm at a clients and hooked my computer up (which is 7 and 64bit) and the finisher does not show up. Now there IT guy called us and asked us if we knew of any known issues cause his client is having some. He was not very specific and the guy that has the problem and his laptop are here so that doesn't help me. This is a much older 6030 and I have not done a firmware upgrade yet cause I want to see if there are known problems. Thanks for you help.

While firmware updates usually aren't a bad idea it's hard to say without more information here.
I presume when you say 'the finisher didn't show up' you are referring to 'autoconfigure' - which not infrequently is blocked by security software. Printing is primarily uni-directional - so as long as the information can get to the device and prints normally from something it's probably not an issue with the 6030 itself. It's also important to remember that the 6030 employs an integrated IB-21E, and some network switches (Cisco for example) may have difficulty with Automatic Speed selection. I think the NIC Speed can be set in the web interface on this model. It can definitely be set through telnet. Problems this causes can be very sporadic - resulting in lockups and/or extremely slow printing. I have seen a 4mb print job move along reasonably to 3mb and then just sit there and nibble away at the remaining 1mb... Relax? When?! |
