Scanned documents come out 8.64 x 11.04. We have a bunch of machines doing this. Our Atty accounts are having their PDF documents kicked back by the courts saying they are too large.
We also service the Richo color machines and the scans (PDF) on those come out to a perfect 8.5 x 11. Just found out about this site, looks to be very helpful place. Any insights will be greatly appreciated. |

How strange is that?! I would never have even thought to look.
We have two scanners set up in our office. The CS-5050 is always exactly 8.32 x 10.72 The CS-8030 is always exactly 8.5 x 11.0 The size does not vary document to document. I wonder if there is any affect from adjusting magnification or voids? I'll fiddle with this if I get some time... =^..^= |

Turning on Full Scan will cut off the edges instead of just blanking the edges white. It turns a 8.5x11 paper into 8.07x10.57 inches. I've had it happen with Falcon 1-2 and 2050s. One of the print driver updates started thinking that 8.07x10.57 was closer to some Chinese paper size (8K) than US Letter.
I've never seen anything cause it to be larger than letter. I also haven't seen any wisecore systems mess with the paper size like yours, blackcat. I just tried scanning from a 250ci with a few different options, but they all ended up at 8.5x11. My first guess was that Full Scan was on and that the copier thought it was scanning a weird paper size, but I can't find any common paper size that matches those dimensions. To get by, you could see if turning Full Scan on (if it's off now) will scan smaller than 8.5x11 and hope that the courts will work with that. |

I've found a couple of work-arounds for you.
If you select Custom original size 11 x 8.5 for copying off the glass you get exactly 8.5 x 11 file size, but only off the glass. The document processor is blocked. If you select "Send Size: Letter" you get exactly 8.5 x 11 file size off glass or document processor. It defaults to "Send Size:same as paper size". Both of these can be set up as shortcut keys to the front scan screen so they are quicker to get to. Unfortunately, I don't see a way to default either one. Does that help? =^..^= |

We tried the full size on and off. We tried messing with scan speed etc etc.
I just got back in the shop and have to shoot and do another call. Ill try the things blackcat4866 has recommended tomorrow. Thanks for the help so far. Ill let you know what happens. Ive been working on Mita copiers since 1979, yeah Im an old copier fart. Hopefully Ill be able to help others out here now and again. |

The Falcon I machines WILL produce 8.5x11 scans in full scan mode. We scored an account because the competition 'didn't measure up'
Then we almost lost them when the Falcon II's came out and their lease was up. We ended up buying out the KM-4030 and giving it to the mostly just for scanning. Now they have a KM-5050 - it doesn't do it either - and still have the KM-4030 for scanning. It's only certain court systems - they submit it electronically and the system kicks it back. Relax? When?! |

Well nothing seems to work. I talked to tech buddy of mine that works for another copier company and he said as far as he knows there isnt a way to correct the problem.
Full scan or not the size that comes out is just a rch too big. Local courts kick them back, Federal courts dont seem to care. |

BC - what model does your workaround apply to? I didn't think you could do shortcuts for scan on a Falcon II - Just Voyager and Harrier's.
Relax? When?! |

Our in-shop machine is a Falcon III (CS-5050). I don't know how I got it in my head that it was a Falcon III...sorry.

Well unfortunately nothing tossed out here works. But I do appreciate all the input.
Here is how we solved the problem. We downloaded some freeware called cutepdf. It installs itself as a printer. We scanned documents in as tiffs instead of pdfs. Open and "print" the tiff documents with cute pdf. It doesnt actually print them, but it does convert them to the correct size pdf and lets you store them where you want. |

Mark - you can still scan as PDF and print the PDF to CutePDF and it should do the same thing - except you may get better results than using a TIFF.
€TIFF's aren't natively handled by Windows, so scaling and consistency can be an issue. Relax? When?! |

You get points for creativity, anyway. Congratulations on a solution of a sort. =^..^=

The problem with scanning it in as a pdf and converting to a smaller pdf with cutepdf is you can only convert one page at a time. Thats fine for a one or two page doc, but when you get into a doc with a ton of pages its just too much work for the customer (lol) So when you scan as a tiff it doesnt matter how many pages it is...one click your pretty much done.
Now if someone knows something I may be doing wrong going pdf to pdf please let me know. Id much rather start with a pdf. |

As I recall, CutePDF worked.
The office I referred to was actually using a version of Acrobat to 'resize' theirs when we came in - so they already knew how much converting them was costing them (to some extent). Relax? When?! |
