Remote Downlevel Document

I have a CS-4050 in the field that is throwing CF620 codes when certain print jobs get to it. I changed the PDL from PCL-XL to PCL 5 and that to care of the issue for awhile. Now it's doing it again. This time, however, the job that prompts the CF620 coded is named in the queue "Remote Level Document." Does anyone know what this is or what application could have generated it?

Thanks.

I've seen that when print jobs were coming from web-based applications.

But I'm trying, Ringo. I'm trying real hard... to be the Shepherd.

You can get the "Remote Desktop Redirected Print" named print jobs when you fire up KM-Net Viewer to scan the network for available printers. Sometimes these 'Print' jobs can hang in the queue and stall other print jobs until the first is deleted.

I had a CS-2560 recieve 15,396 of these print jobs over 7 1/2 hours. Stopping and clearing the queue did not help, they just kept coming. I ended up deleting out the print driver and loading a newer driver. I hope this helps.

This shows up when you set up a local printer port on a machine that redirects to a shared network printer.

This method is sometimes used if a suitable print driver either can't be installed or doesn't exist across different OS's - like a Windows 2000 client printing to a shared printer on a 64 bit operating system. If the printer is compatible with an HP LJ4 for example that driver is installed on the Win 2000 client and a new local port is created to \\vista64\printer for example.
Whenever the 2000 client prints to the port it will show up as a 'Remote Downlevel Document'

It's not unusual for this type of setup to have authentication issues, causing a hangup. Sadly, Windows doesn't decide to just go ahead and print the stuff that's authorized - it just waits until somebody figures it out. (This is usually follow by a huge dump of print jobs that multiple users sent multiple times since it didn't print...)

Relax? When?!
