Are we talking about GMail or Microsoft Exchange? My understanding is that GMail is NOT an option. Microsoft Exchange can be configured to work. By default it does not relay to addresses outside the local domain. Exchange can be configured to allow relaying to other domains. Microsoft Exchange configuration should only be done by someone full familiar with the network, firewall and security of the network. If you (or whoever you're working with) doesn't know what they're doing it could result in an open relay and subsequent blacklisting from other mail servers. (An open relay is an unsecured SMTP server that will transfer email from anybody to anybody without any authentication - which makes it ideal for Spammers to exploit to distribute junk email) Free outgoing SMTP servers are few and far between. Typically your best option would be provided by the ISP (Internet Service Provider). Many ISP's now require SSL (Secure Socket Layer) communications - Kyocera's machines do not support SSL SMTP. The other SMTP server option would be through a web host. If the customer has a web site it is likely their Web Host provides SMTP as part of their package. To sum it up - Free SMTP = SPAM, so it's really not useable (if you can even find it). Relax? When?!

I've used Argosoft Mail in the past with success. I used the free version with no problems, but there are other versions with more functions that you could try (30 day trial) if the free version doesn't work for you. http://www.argosoft.com/rootpa...rverNET/Default.aspx But I'm trying, Ringo. I'm trying real hard... to be the Shepherd.

XP Professional also has the option to install an SMTP server (with IIS). It would have to be configured to allow relaying but it does work too. Relax? When?!

TonerDog, I'm not sure what you specifically mean by "scan to Gmail", but I can tell you that I've used Argosoft to scan to a gmail address and was successful. Assaf, http://www.argosoft.com/RootPa...NetFree/Default.aspx Click on "See Quick Start Guide" on this web page. But I'm trying, Ringo. I'm trying real hard... to be the Shepherd.
