We were asked to print a PDF which contains halftone screens. When using the PCL setting, the entire file prints but the screens are printing way too light. When using KPDL, we can adjust the lines per inch and darken up the screens but lose the entire front page of the file. I don't see the "print as image" setting that is referred to in another post and need to find a resolution for this problem quickly. Any ideas or suggestions? (The Adobe Reader on the computer in question has been updated to 6.0.2.) Thanks in advance for your help.

The "Print as image" option is really called "GDI compatible" and is a check box next to the PDL language selection within the KX driver. Turns the entire page into a bitmap image for printing, and slows the print processing. Works great for the customer who complains of their new Kyocera printer not printing with the same format as their old printer. This also makes print incorrect from a DOS application print.

Well, it took a lot of trial and error but we seem to have solved our printing problem. Thanks to all of you for suggestions here and elsewhere on these pages. For those of you who encounter PDF files with halftone screens, the settings that worked for us are: On the "Print" screen, select "Advanced" and then select "Print as Image". Click on "Properties", then Imaging tab. Click on "Graphics Settings", click on Halftone Screen, and uncheck "Use Printer's Default Screens". For the file we are printing, the optimal Frequency was between 80 and 100 lines/inch. We also selected "Use Accurate Screens". Click OK. All of these adjustments worked wonders for the printing of this file.
