Catch me if you can!

| Is this performing a Scan to SMB? I think it could have something to do with user account ownership of the file. I was in the Boot Camp seminar this last week and had to jump a lot of hurdles when trying the Scan to SMB to my laptop PC. Turns out that I could not use my regular user account as the scanner-user account because I don't have a password assigned to it, and a password is required to get the scan to work. I created a new account just for the scanner with a password to get a pair of successful scans done. Both were PDF files though. I then discovered that I could not open the files with Acrobat 5 or Acrobat Reader 7. I could move them and delete them, but they refused to open for viewing. I haven't investigated this anymore since, but I think it has to do with sharing permissions and user account ownership of the scanned file. I thought I gave the folder read/write permissions, but the folder was created and permissions assigned while logged in as my regular account, not the scanner account. I had to have missed something along those lines. Scan to FTP did not have these issues. Another surprise, the KM-5050 TWAIN driver refused to work at all with PaperPort 8.0 (version I'm running). I had to open Paint Shop Pro in order to get a successful TWAIN scan from the copier. Hope that was just a conflict on my own PC and not a problem in general.

| Hi,
Had this problem too, seems windows does not understand the colourspace information that KM use to encode their jpeg images when creating tiff scans.
Only managed to get the colour scans to open in Xara (though there are others that will open it I guess) - b/w tiff are fine in all windows apps.

| We've installed quite a few of these machines and have had no problems opening any documents in any formats, we do make sure the firmwares are updated at all times. If you are into Thinkpads take a trip Here! |
