Hey, I am trying to remember the steps needed to scan from a km5050 using the scanner file utility instead of the SMB scanning. I have a customer who needs a more secure means of scanning.

Make sure you get the special 5050 version of the scan file utility, go to system menu>application, turn kyocapture on, put in the IP of the computer it is installed on. Remember it can only scan to one computer that way. I would not say at all this is more secure though. There are some known security holes in SFU, which is why they discourage using it. SMB scan is much more secure all the way around.
