Does anybody know how to reset the password on the copier. The password was entered wrong several times & the control panel is asking for user name & password.

Try sending "!R! EGRE; EXIT;" to the machine. You can create a text file consisting of the aforementioned prescribe commands and send it via ICLink. There is a "Send a file" option under "Printer Tools". Good luck...

But I'm trying, Ringo. I'm trying real hard... to be the Shepherd.

Go into simulation , print 000 service report. run sim 927 and export your data to USB and then run sim 20.. After the machine has reset ,import your data in sim 927 and set your settings as per your original 000 Report.... Try it ....

Sending !R! EGRE; EXIT; will initialize the engine board, resets all passwords. You loose everything.

!R! ACNT "REST";EXIT; resets account code admin password.

Depends on what password you need to reset.

Proximity to stupidity is exhausting!

Sending PreScribe commands is often the only way to do what you want. It's very easy. There are lots of ways to send a command to your printer. This is a valuable skill to learn.

1) In the VoyagerE and Harrier machines there is the Printable Data tab on the web interface. Either type the command as you see it in the above post:
!R! EGRE; EXIT;
or
!R! ACNT "REST";EXIT;
and Send. Or type it into a Notepad file, and browse to that file, then Send.
2) On the Wysecore machines Printable Data has been removed from the web interface, so you can use KM-Net Viewer > Broadcast Function. It works exactly like Printable Data.
3) LPR Jar is a free Java based utility. Prepare the Notepad file as above. Open up the utility. Browse to the prepared file. Enter the IP address of the printer, and Send. This is the easiest of all the ways. You can run this little utility off a USB stick and just plug into a users PC.
4)You can also send your PreScribe from the command line. You'll need a functioning print driver set up for this one to work. Prepare the Notepad file as above and place it in the root drive (C:\). On the command line type:
C:\jsmith>copy prescribecommand.prn \\fullcomputername\printersharename
then Enter
where prescribecommand.prn is your Notepad file
where fullcomputername is the full computer name of server (or your PC if connected by crossover)
where printersharename is the printer's share name as set up in the driver
It takes a little fussing to get the syntax exactly right for this to work, but it does work.

5) I'm going to advise against using Kyocera's IC Link utility. It also has a Broadcast function, but it does not communicate well with Wysecore machines even when it is set up properly. The first PreScribe commands that I tried to send were upgrading the Barcode Font CF cards to v. 3.00.0B for the CS-5050. IC Link errored out 5 times of 6.

LPR Jar is especially suitable for longer lists of commands because it never seems to time out. It's also a great way to find out if you have a print driver issue on the customer's server. I have a few Print-To-File samples for each model machine which when sent via LPR Jar totally bypasses the customers print driver. Since the print job looks exactly the same from the printer's point of view, if it prints from "the jar" and not the driver, the driver definitely has an issue.

Sorry for ranting on about this, but this is an invaluable tool for anybody/everybody to use. =^..^=

You can also output prescribe to a logical port through command line:

echo >\\HOSTNAME\LP1 !R! EGRE; EXIT;

Relax? When?!
