I have a km-3035 that’s been out at the customers for 4 months. But recently they can't print, ping, or reach the printer nic. Has all the newest firmware on coper, printer, and nic. When power is turned off then on it will print for a while. Then after about 30 minutes to 1 hour same thing.
Could be print system gone bad, maybe they had some spikes or surges, Nic's are a definate point of failure. Try swapping with a known good one for a while and see what happens. Also try reseating memory on print system. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Airborne,
I have had similar situations to this with switch compatibility (or defect). You can telnet into the NIC and set it to half duplex and 10baseT. There are known issues with Cisco products specifically and Auto Negotiation. I have also resolved this by installing a switch just for the printer/scanner interface - it kind of acts as an isolator.
One other problem - had an incident with a failing D-Link router that seemed to lock up the NIC. If you reset the machine you could ping it and might print one job - then the NIC would sort of disappear until you reset it again. I decided to update the firmware (bad idea) on the NIC which failed and ruined the NIC (FS9500 integrated - ouch!). Installed IB21E and had the same problems. Finally isolated router as problem (had some DNS problems as well).
