Copier prints fine except for pdf files. Customer downloads a pdf file from their website and then saves the file. Later tries to print the page and it drops characters. Example... "Try to move for at least 30 minutes on most days. Your child needs to move at least 60 minutes on most days. You'll both feel good." when printed appears this way... "T y to move fo at least 0 mnutes on most days. You chld needs to move at least 60 mnutes on most days. You'll oth feel ood" Bold print seems to do worse. Here is a sample of a header in bold type... You don't need to spend money to fit active fun into your family life. Checked emulation. Set for KPDL (auto) Backup is set to PCL6 Updating firmware is an obvious possibility but I'm wondering if there is a known explanation for this problem. Thanks!! Foos

You could try changing the emulation setting in the driver or maybe update your driver. Have had a similar problem and the new driver fixed it. Good luck J.G

I have heard general rumors about Acrobat Reader 6 not printing very smoothly on many Kyocera printers. Print system firmware updates have been introduced in many machines since last December that supposedly include a fix for Acrobat 6. New print system K firmware was posted just last week. Get the firmware up to date, get the most current KX driver and install it, and I also recommend setting PCL5e as the language in the KX driver. ================================================== Chris L's Hiking/Geocaching blog (new and improved!) yoyoartist.blogspot.com

The Kyocera Release Notes for the KY Mita Software Library version 7.42, 8 June 04(available on KMAconnect) address some issues with Acrobat, lots of good info as well.

Many don't know that to update Adobe Reader 6 you click on Help then Update - you will then see the 6.02 update, click on it then click on add...follow the onscreen information.

You can also try going to file then print then go to advanced settings and click the box were it says print as image. This has solved alot of printing issues for me.

I agree with Dan C. The "print as image" selection has been a real handy tip.

Just a quick update of this machine. I had passed along the tip about the "print as image" idea and that has worked wonders. I talked to this account the other day and she was still thrilled and very pleased. Thanks for the tip! Foos

I have experienced the dropped characters too. Where is the "print as image" setting found? I've been looking for it but must have gone right past it. Thank you.

I have had numerous issues of different machines dropping characters intermittently. I have fixed 100% of them by changing font settings in the imaging tab to "download fonts as Bitmap". This will fix this problem. Mike

Changing the font setting to 'bitmap' does help with a lot of printing issues
