I have a customer that has a KM-1820 that has two trays .What they are trying to do is when tray 1 runs out they don’t want the copier to switch to tray 2.I have it working when coping but I cant find a way to disable auto tray switch when printing .
I would guess that "!R! FRPO R1, 0; EXIT;" would set it properly, but the default according to the prescribe manual is 0, and I can't find a way to see the setting in an 1820. The service status page doesn't display it, and I haven't found any list on the web interface.

I think the correct way to do this is to use PCL 5 as the printer language since that selects by paper source and not by paper type as PCL XL, PCL 6, and KPDL do.

I would try setting the 2nd Paper Tray media type differently than the 1st tray, this should stop the tray switching. Since as Chris says, the standard driver would choose by paper type.
Ok, after specking with the Kyocera hot line numbers times I finally got an answer. On this model you can’t change (R1) in the FRPO commands and in the driver you can’t change printer language so that you can’t turn off auto media switching. So now it’s finding a solution for the customer
Hi! Jeff is right! Same thing with the Falcon 3 series. You can not disable auto cassette switching in both copy or print modes. I switched the 2nd cassette to letter "r".
Thanks for all the information changed the language to PCL5e and set tray two to different Media I also set try one as the default tray and that worked.
