the latest machines have internet browsing available now and got to wondering. is there anyway to provide anti virus on these things? the 300i i'm dealing with right now allows cookies to be saved and could possibly download a virus. anyway to protect that?

It's a valid concern. Do keep in mind that the MFP is powered by Linux at it's core, not Windows. I'm posting from a Linux PC right now without any antivirus software. The overwhelming majority of computer virii out there are designed to exploit Windows, not so many that can infect other operating systems.
Perhaps some future day Kyocera will introduce an anti-virus as part of a firmware update. Hopefully the linux distribution Kyocera is using is not an 'Off the Shelf' version - making it an even harder target.
Generally speaking, linux requires programs to be compiled for the specific distribution. Relax? When?! |
