I have a customer with two FS-9130DN printers. They both are maxed out with memory and have hard drives installed. One of them is constantly printing out an e-MPS error report that says the following:
Symptom: Only one copy was printed when more than one copy were required.
Cause: RAM disk was full or not activated, or, hard disk was full or not installed.
Remedy: Activate or increase RAM disk, install a hard disk, or increase the free space in the hard disk.
One thing I should point out is that this is a 100% Mac environment, so I'm not working with the KX Driver.
My first thought was to switch hard drives between the two printers and see if the problem follows the drive.
It doesn't take much of a document at all to set this error off...maybe a page or two, or two copies of one page document.
Your on the right track with the HDD. They do go bad, so swapping will diagnose the problem. Try to reformat the hdd if swapping confirms a problem. Usually reformatting dosen't do it and a new one is in order.
If they are toshiba hdd's you can go to their website and file a warranty claim for replacement. All the info is on the hdd like model and serial number. They are prone to heat failure. Although there is a time limit for warranty. About half of the ones I had qualified. I've thrown away dozens.
