Has anyone had experience setting up the scan-to-PC and KX driver on computers running Kaspersky anti-virus? We have run into a problem in an office that has both Norton and Kaspersky anti-virus on individual workstations. The KX driver and scan file utility installed and run without a hitch on the workstations running Norton. The workstations running Kaspersky are giving us fits -- can't scan back to those workstations AND we can't complete the installation of the KX driver. Help!!

Can't install KX print driver...We walk through the install until the end where it quits with a statement that it can't install the printer.

Scan file utility was installed and configured. An exception was created in Kaspersky for the scan file utility and the firewall in Windows XP was turned off on one workstation (running SP2) and doesn't exist on the other one (running SP1).

Does anyone know which ports need to be id'ed as exceptions?

Are you installing the KX driver with the driver install exe or by using the add printer wizard? I'd suggest using add printer - the exe version overides the WHQL warning which may be what's setting of Kapersky.
A couple of years ago, I found that the exe package wouldn't work right on some 95/98 installs - panic set in at first, then tried manual installation with no problems. I usually stay away from the KX driver on legacy OS's, but there were only two PC's that were outdated (they were running an app that wouldn't work in XP on them)and the other 40 or so workstations were on XP, so I wanted them to match.

If the drivers have been downloaded and unzipped. Then look for the INF files for the "add printer" wizard routine in the folder that KM sets up. Had to do this once with a very old win98 setup the customer refuses to give up. They purchased a used CS-2030 with the print system.

Appreciate all of the responses. The workstations are all running XP. One of the workstations that is giving us trouble is running XP with Service Pack 1 -- so no firewall in the OS that I can find. It seems so strange that all of the computers that have Norton AV installed are fine. Only the two workstations with Kaspersky are problematic. We can scan to all of the workstations except these two -- and were able to set up printing on all except these two. The IT guy is not much help so short of uninstalling Kaspersky and trying to set up the print and scan again, we are not sure what can be done.

Turn it off... End the Kaspersky program and try it all again..

Install the drivers and check the scan while Kaspersky is not running.
#1. if this works, it will prove that that program is the problem.
#2. It shows the IT guy that that program is the problem.

Good luck!

I really hate Kaspersky. I got around it by deleting all the rules under the Firewall except to allow TCP in/out traffic over 139 and 445.

I had Kaspersky block ONLY the advanced tab on the command center, you could see everything else, just the advanced tab, weird....
