I was thinking... our company uses an internal knowledge base (in the format of a forum) using "Sharepoint" services. Anyways, we don't use it for folks requesting assistance. Instead we use for our guys to enter unique things that they run into in the field so that others on our team can use to either avoid the problem or find detailed help in case they run into in the field sometime down the road. Sometimes I get a doozy that I'm able to fix, but a year later, when someone else sees it, I don't remember the details. I've already got a slew of goodies I could share, and I guess I could make individual posts in the appropriate machine sections (B/W, color, etc), but didn't know if you thought it better to have a section of its own for stuff like that?
I planned on simply copy/pasting the info into separate entries for this forum. So I guess it would be just as searchable as any other posts here. If I don't hear back from Admin, I'll start pasting next week into sections of this forum that I think are most appropriate.
I set up the new forum, your good to go. Do you have any ideas on how to keep it organized? Maybe a separate “Discussion” for each model group with a “Reply” for each fix? Let me know any thoughts you have.
Thanks for your participation.

To Admin: Thanks! I've posted several entries in the new section. But I wanted to "pause for the cause" just in case you thought that the organization wasn't what you had in mind. I really want to make sure I'm not cluttering up your forum before I continue to paste info. Any suggestions? If you agree with the layout, I'll continue on. I'm just sectioning it out with models (instead of problem descriptions). I thought that might keep it tidy.
The only other way I can think of would be to set up a separate “Heads Up” category with individual forums for each model group. My fear with this is that the site would have too many forums without enough activity. It would also take more administration and take away the flexibility of you the users. My intent with this site was to keep it simple and easy to check to see what’s new without a lot of time and effort.
i feel that the section is good, but maybe it should be directed to more like a Q/A section were you ask a particular question, for example... 1.machine performance, field reports. 2.kits realiability. 3.critical troubleshooting problems thats needs a.s.a.p answers 4.customer feed back post by techs. etc... just my two cents DUMMIETEK...THANKS ADMIN...
what you can do is up a thread for each model number machine in the forum. From their when users get a new piece of information they can just click the reply button for the desired unit.
I have a similar site that is also run by infopop and I have 50 different threads, and then I just add to the thread.
Hope this helps, also what are your thoughts about infopop being ust and enterprise solution and now charging new accounts $9,000 per month?
Winner make things happen, losers wait for things to happen!
