I just replaced a drum assy on a KM3035 and the drum count didn't change in sim 110. Shouldn't it do that automatically? COPIERDUDE497 Where are we going and why am I in this handbasket?

Might try an alternate maintenance code... I've never used the 30363036 number but here's a link to some good info concerning that. FWIW, I was once told by Tech Support that they eliminated that reset because it didn't really do anything on this model. Supposedly the machine doesn't use the count to adjust image quality?

Question ? Did you unplug the machine, before you installed the new drum ass'y

The drum count will only automatically reset if the machine was powered off while the drum was being replaced. You can forcibly reset the drum count as described by Foos, but it seems to come with a sort of 'penalty' - accessories like the Scanner PCB and Fax PCB will reset most (if not all) of their settings. I don't think it messes up any of the copier settings. Relax? When?!

Some older models just don`t reset even if you had them off,but you surely do need to have it turned off during drum replacement. Like he said, you go in 3036 3036. Reset counter and then drum time.

The drum counter will reset only if the drum is replaced during a PM cycle. Kyocera way of thinking is that a drum replaced before the PM cycle will keep the same counter until it reaches the PM. Their reason of that, the drum is being replaced under warranty and it is "paid off" by Kyocera. Then, if you replace a drum at 350k in a 500k PM cycle machine you'll discard a 150k drum and replace it with the one in the PM kit when the PM is due. This is Kyocera explanation to my question about drum counter reset. By the way, 3036 3036 will reset speed dials in a fax system. About compromise... There's nothing in the middle of the road except yellow stripes and road kill.

Guru - this is true of the printers (9500's and 9520's) but wasn't the case with at least the Falcon I's. The drum counter does reset if the power is of when you install it even if you are replacing it early (which is frequently the case, isn't it?) Relax? When?!
