We have a cs 420i that is getting alot of duplex jamming j-61. The machine has around 14k clicks on it. We've cleaned and replaced the duplex clutch, cleaned the rollers and firmware is at the latest level. The machine only jams from the 3000 sheet deck when in duplex mode, never in single sided mode from the deck. It also never jams (single or duplex mode) from either drawer 1 or 2. We've replaced the feed unit for the 3000 sheet deck and the jamming still occurs. Is anyone else having duplexing problems with this model or have any ideas?

You might want to clean/replace the feed rollers (I think they are clear and blue) and also look and see if there is a spring on both sides of the white plastic that holds the pulley.

If at first you don't succeed, redefine success.

well check on the springs and such but the machines only has about 14000 copies on it...i would hope no rollers would need replacing yet.

You might have a non-B version of your 3000 sheet feeder (which would not be compatible). I'm not sure how you can tell for sure. Apparently you can't necessarily tell from the serial number or the model on the name plate. The way we were told to check was by the item number used when it was ordered (see TB #1). Personally I think it is BS that support can't give an answer based on the s/n. We had the same symptom as you, but it was never really fixed because the machine ended up being installed on a stand (tempoarily).

If the accessory is incompatible it just won't be recognized. I had an early version of the PF-760 designed for the CS-500ci, and I really wanted to make it work on a Falcon IV, but it just won't be recognized. I even tried to reload the firmware, thinking that all it really needed was the correct firmware. But no, the firmware for the PF-760 failed. =^..^=

I'd hope that is the case...but my suspicion came from KMA support???

We called KM support on this and they said that a tech rep reported that he fixed this by replacing feed clutch 3. We went back to the machine and replaced the clutch, and sure enough the jamming SEEMS to be gone. If we find out otherwise, we will let you know.

There is a service bulletin 9035-2H7-0047 for J 60 that might help you with J 61, your actuator could be held up do to the acuator frame that holds it being to tight.

My case returned as well after we switched the entire PF unit. Newly ordered for this machine. I'll be sure to post what we find.

BIG SIGH... You don't want to hear this, but it's the verticle feed clutches. I had the exact same senario. I cleaned them, and it's been 2 weeks now. If it comes back I'll plan on replacing them. We did consider the wrong deck, but the shipping box verified that.

Good luck and may the schwartz be with you! Cool2

Can everyone please update me on their progress.

I have the exact same problem.

I am not sure how much I could clean the cluthes, the machine is brand new. Hate to waste a day and have every employee make comments of how their new machine is already gutted.

well everyone seems to be pointing to the clutches. we've replaced and cleaned them and it appears to still be jamming for us. but we also were told by tech support that its possible that there is a batch of bad clutches? im not really sure where it stands now but i'll ask the guy whos working on it to put an update out for everyone.
