I have a CS 2550 that the ADF pick up roller will not pop back up after it feeds. It will feed the paper fine with no problems but will not pop back up. There is no error that comes with it. Now as soon as you lift the ADF or open the top cover it will pop back into place. I have checked all the switch's and they work and I replaced the main board on the ADF. The machine will keep trying to feed even when the roller is in the down position. Kyocera had no answer or real diretion to help. Any idea would be appritiated.
I just looked at a working machine in the shop. With the top cover open and the cover interlock defeated, the feed roller pressed down and the tray paper sensor also defeated the shaft rotates the feed rollers back up. You might want to try another motor or perhaps look for a bad 1 way gear in that area. Sorry I don't have anything more specific. I had one of these adf's smoke, and I do mean SMOKE, two engine boards in the copier before we figured it out.

I saw one where the plastic piece, the one that is lifting, was cracked. There is a wrap spring on the feed shaft, with 2 tabs, that lift the plastic piece. Where they touch is where it was cracked and the tab would slip through and would not lift. Look at the shaft when it should be lifting. Does it rotate backwards as it should? If yes, then I'd look hard at what I've described above.

I just did one Tuesday....There is a spring on the side of the plastic shaft, the one end of the spring has broken off, so when it retards to reset the pickup roller the spring just slips by because the catch on the side of the spring is gone....change out the spring and you'll be good to go. Brian

There is a one way clutch on next to the paper feed pulley (the back one) that sometimes gets clogged up. Take the clutch off the shaft and clean it very well with alcohol then spray some lubricant in it. That might do the trick.
If at first you don't succeed, redefine success.

The wrap spring several others have commented on will sometimes be in the wrong position with its tines if someone has changed the rollers and weren't careful reassembling the feed unit. The tines then slip past their stops and the feed unit never comes up. The action of the tine off the spring is what actually helps assist the lift
ok.. FIXED! see Dave H above, it was such a clean hole thru the plastic, you really could not tell the spring was slipping past until you physically took it apart, thanks for the heads up!!!
