I am trying to install a fax system J onto a Km-4030. I know the fax system needs to be downgraded to be compatible with the machine but I can't seem to get it to work. I don't know if I am downloading the wrong thing or what. Basically all I was told to do is download the downgrade..put it on a flash card..install it into the machine. That didnt work for me. Has anybody done this before and got it to work? If so, how?
Thanks for any input. Chris |

Ive done it on two 3530's. I ordered the system "f" Roms in and used the flash jig we got for the ai1515 to download it to the fax board. This worked fine for me. I didnt know you could use compact flash.

We did it the same way as Troy with no problem.

Catch me if you can! |
There is a compact flash adapter for the fax systems. You can still use the older EPROM flash adapter but for only as long as K-M still issues the EPROM .hex files for burning EPROMs. The CF adapter has a dual use - it can also be used to download the configuration and programming of the fax onto a CF before doing a RAM clear or replacing the board, so you don't have to key in all the information manually.
The situation with installing Fax J into a 4030/3530/2530 is that the Fax J has to be flashed with current Fax system F firmware to make it work in these older models. The copier also has to be flashed to current firmware levels. ================================================== Chris L's Hiking/Geocaching blog (new and improved!) yoyoartist.blogspot.com |

Page 1-6-4 of the Fax System F-J Service Manual (available for downloading from KMA connect) has the part # (3CM68030) of the CF flash tool. Flash procedure is found there also. Use only a 32MB or less CF card for this, my experience using a 64MB CF is that it doesn't work at all. Be forwarned, the CF flash tool is expensive.
