I have a CS 5050 with a HCD drawer that gives me an error only when there is paper in the right hand side. If there is less then a half ream of paper it doesn't give me the error. I have replace the motors and all the sensors. Here is the kicker, I can't find this error any where. Here is what it says when paper is put in the right side

Error occurred at casette 3
Open cassette 3 to check and remove paper from inside the machine.

Now there is no paper in it and the drawer is now in-op until I reset the machine. Please tell me that someone else has seen this, thanks.

are both sides even when the lift is at the top or is one side lower then the other? if it is not level on both sides it will do that, use your hand and lift the tray up and both sides should be at the top edge, if not it slipped position on the belt.

I've got the same problem. I get that error message when the right side of the PF-750 is empty. It doesn't matter whether the left side is full or empty. Mine also gets disabled, and restarting the machine enables it again.

I just got back from replacing the PCB which didn't fix anything. I've replaced the 4 pulse paper sensors and swapped/checked the 2 rear paper level sensors. I haven't played with the 2 lift sensors, the drawer close sensor, the left cover sensor, or any motors because I expect other problems if those were broken. I doubt it's a lift issue because I can leave 10 pages in the right side and have it feed all 10 fine, and then it will give the weird error.

Did you check to see if the plastic tab on top is broken?? There is a long discussion on this site devoted to it.You have to sink a small self tapping screw that is shimmed up next to where the drive clutch is.Had 3 thi Luke s month!

I had that issue on this machine, but this weird error still showed up after I replaced the feed unit frame.

Could it possibly be the plug where the paper feed unit plugs in to, a possible bent pin?

I don't think so cause it worked for well over a year and then just started.

Sorry for bringing this post back from the past but was this ever resolved?

Having a similar issue with a PF-750 where its been reported to say it's out of paper when it's not. Of course this doesn't happen when I'm there.

I got some docs on that from my rep, pics included.

It's for a PF-760, but it's the same error/symptoms.

Give me email addresses.

Thanks Aragul. If that doesn't work for anyone let me know. It didn't work for me and I got a new fix within the last month.

What was your latest fix?
I don't think my rails are bent up from what I can tell.

Sorry we never solved the problem. We ended up swapping out the drawers from machines that came off of lease. Sorry I can't be more help.

Had same thing on PF750, bend the frame that holds paper feed unit, the one that says don't left here when you unbox unit, don't know if it gets bent when unit overdrive. Tried everthing you did. Been working good so far.

The latest fix was to install washers (#8 at hardware stores 7/16 of an inch big) underneath both pick-up assemblies.

This will raise the Level Switch 1 and 2 up a couple of millimetres.

I will email pics and service ticket if you need.

I did something similar yesterday by placing a partial zip tie under each assembly (that's all I had with me) to bring each assembly up about 2mm.
We'll see if I get a call back.
