Have a 5035 with print/scan just got back in from rental. Cannot set IP address either manually or DHCP. When cable is plugged into print board, green light for print is not on and network switch does not light up. Scan lights up OK. When you do a status report, no IP address and second page does not print. This was working in customer's office (they were using both print and scan) so don't know what happened. Tried updating the firmware, V146.13, no luck. Is there a reset procedure, or am I out of luck? Thanks..... Jeff M.

There is a hard reset for the printer board. It is in behind the parallel connection with a label on the board sw1 & sw 2. There is a shorting device usually hanging off of one of the sw2 pins. Use the shorting device for sw2 for a hard reset. Put the board in the machine with the shorted pins and turn on for a few seconds then off and remove shorting pin. Chances are the board is bad so it may not help you. We transfered a machine between offices last week and when we fired it up, the printer board no longer worked even after a hard reset. Hope you have better luck than me.

Thanks, Skookumchuck, for your reply. Tried it, but I didn't have any better luck than you. Are these boards repairable, either by KM or Ambassador or Hytec, or just forget about it??? Thanks... Jeff M.

This may be a dumb question - but did you try a different cable?
A different switch?

An interesting thing of note recently for me has been a customer with Cisco managed switches that have been in place for several years just recently started having issue with auto media selection for the NIC speed. Had to set them to 100bt/full fixed.
The network admin said nothing had changed with his switches - but I don't know if they employ some kind of automatic firmware update for the switches.
I know the network admin pretty well - but this is a bank and they do contract for some things - like managing their firewalls, so it's possible that a contractor changed something with the switches. It happened at two branches in the same time frame. One was a KM-2030 and much worse - they elected to upgrade the equipment. When we connected the new equipment the problem was very similar. That's when I changed settings...

Relax? When?!

I to have had some wild problems with Cisco switches. I ended up just putting a linksys 4 port switch between the machine and the Cisco switch. I know it had something to do with the speed of the Cisco switch, but I didn't know nor did the customer know what to change. Linksys was an easy fix.

Scotty, I actually tried the print kit in another machine, a 4035, using the same cable and had the same problem. Put another kit in both the original machine and the 4035, same cable, and worked fine. It's definitely the print board. Good the know about the Cisco switches, just installed a C5100DN and plugged into their Cisco switch. Keeping my fingers crossed....... Regards... Jeff M.

Kyocera board repair shows $389.00. For that you get either a repaired board or maybe a new one for that price with exchange. I don't know about ATS or Hytec. ATS will be much cheaper IF they can fix it; it's an issue of non-availability of proprietary chips. They are usually willing to try.
