I have replaced the dispenser and stapler cartridges,(OEM staples). Tried realignment of the staper and clincher assys (painted screws!!). The paper jams with a mutilated staple stuck in the cartridge end. What am I missing?

Xeriod, can you swap the staple units and see if the problem moves with it. I once had one that on the large gear on the side of the staple unit, there is a sort of cam track. There is a pin that rides in this track and on the pin there is a spacer of sorts, white plastic I believe. This spacer was broken and was causing problems. All you can do is replace the staple unit, or at least swap it for the other one if they only single staple in the corner.

There are alignment tools for those painted screws (stapler alignment), but I believe we had successful stapler replacements before we had the tools.

Swapped staplers A&B, realigned with tool per SM. Problem was still present. Replaced the cartridge again and it works well? At this point I am thinking that maybe a misaligned stapler was causing premature failure of the green handled cartridge. Have hope that it will last this time. Machine is at a school where the teachers will continue to select staple even if the cartridge is jammed and hammer the poop out of it so there may still be hell to pay later. Thanks to all for the input

Xeroid, are you using OEM staples or by chance after market ones from Katun. Usually I have never seen problems with the Katun staples, however there was something about the white holder on the staples for this finisher that we received from them that made the staple units jam quite often, we switched back to OEM and have had no stapling issues since.

I have had multiple problems with the staple units even after swapping them from other 650.In all cases it was non-oem staples. The staples would stop feeding and I would find partial strips in the staple cart. Never had this problem with oem.
Good luck

What you are describing is exactly what I have been dealing with in terms of partial staple strips and cartridge jams. The shop emphatically claims they have only sold them OEM staples but I know they love Katun and have plenty of cheap trinkets from them to show for it.

On all the aftermarket staple cartridges that we have used, the "arrows" that are on the sides were painted black. On the OEM cartridges the "arrows" are punched through the paper.
Hope this helps Bulb

Staples were from original order from Katun. They had sold them OEM on their last order but stock hadn't gotten to the staplers yet. OEMs are working great now for weeks on end. Thanks for the tips and how to identify.
