15 yrs in the field , enjoy mostly ntwking. Have one of these small boxes that won't feed out of the cassette. Pulls sheet about 3" and jams. Code jam 11. Have replaced feed clutch. Appreciate any knowledge. Thanx.

Look from the back with a flashlight while it feeds, if the roller isn't turning right you have a clutch problem. Usually cleaning with alcohol is all the clutch needs.

More commonly though you see the roller turning and not gripping the paper. I flip the roller on its hub and clean it w/ simple green. I also mod the sep pad with a bit of tape (clear packing works well), you're trying to reduce the friction area by like 40%. Obviously the tape job needs to be done well or it may cause trouble.

I've had to replace these items, but only rarely

One other thing to try if the roller isn't gripping: stretch the cassette lift springs a little.

Replace the 2 cassette springs with part # 302FM06060 and the sep. assy with part #5AAVSEPRT016. The springs are have a little more tension and the sep pad is slightly different from the original.

I've done that also, but have over done it too, kinda hard to reverse if you stretch too far.

Thanx for all your inputs. Had already tried most of them. Turned out to be the two outside mylars on the bypass guide which were bent downward. Now however my copies are blank even from the engine. Sucks.
