I have a CS1810

CS1810 poor copy quality on ADF only

perfect glass copies
but on ADF REAL REAL dark almost black, but still image in the blackness

any ideas?

I figured the #1 mirror was at angle -nope


Life is good.

I've never seen this, but you might check modes U060-U070 and compare them to the defaults in the manual. U063 and U068 may cause issues.

When you checked the mirror on light source 1 did you check the pads that it rides on. I have had same problem with 2550 ok off glass but bad through feeder. One of the pads was not seated right on light source one.

We used to see this frequently. When light source 1 moves backward to the scan glass, it tilts ever so slightly thus changing the angle of mirror 1. This has to do with wire winding and proximity to wire drum.
What I and our regional rep wound up doing is moving to wires on ls 1 out as far as possible where they mount on ls 1. also we bent the mounts as upward as possible before they would rub on the metal plate above them.
I'm not one for doing wild mods like this, but it does work.
My rep issued a Q/A on this mod but I could never find it.
A little trial and error and you should get it.

yep 063 fixed that
I had to max it out to one extreme I think scan cables stretched
now occasional jams at reg roller
