I read this post after doing a search for "lock" ups. We have a 5050 that was locking up after doing a scan. Op panel would just double beep every time a button was pressed. You could get the screen to change to copy or send, but if you entered a number or hit the start, stop or other buttons it would not respond. We formatted the HDD and it resolved the problem for a few days but returned. We replaced the HDD and it returned in a few days. We replaced the Main pcb yesterday, and so far so good. We did not get any CF codes nor are any recorded in the service history. One tech actually saw the problem and confirmed it only occurred after a scan to e-mail or smb. He formatted the HDD and loaded level 5 fw. He also trained customer on hitting power button and waiting for memory light to stop flashing before turning off the power switch. Mike, Did you ever find a permanent solution to this problem? I am having almost the exact same thing happen to me on a 5050 in a bank loan office... I've swapped Hard drive, Main PCB, System DIMMS, latest firmware, and had my regional rep out to the site with me. I am going today to swap out the operation panel as a last resort. We confirmed it is NOT the network side of things: we swapped scan settings over to an enitrely different server and found out from customer problem still is occurring. Help!!!
