I have a 3050 with letter in both drawers, intermittently when drawer 1 is closed the machine will falsely belive that it has letter-r paper in the drawer. Close the drawer and the paper lifts and you can see on the preview screen icon for paper orientation will flip from letter to letter-r. This of course effects all copies and prints. I checked the paper size sensor/pcb in the drawer and I suspect the little copper tab with the fingers, seems it has the ability to pivot on its mounting tab thus possibly contacting incorrect areas. Any have something similar?
Have not seen that problem yet. I would swap the cassettes to see if the problem follows.Check the connector plug. This machine is to new it would seem the have a rear cass. black plug problem. If you shake the cass. after it is full lifted, does the size jump or any change of status? If cass. problem, take all the side guides apart and clean contacts.New firmware right?
There is a modification, a spacer that you install under the "terminal" (the little copper tab with the fingers) to make better contact with the size detection assy. Part no 2GR09980.

Its a service bulletin, not the typical technical bulletin. Call up the techline and let them know that you need that bulletin number and they can fax it to you.
The bulletin here seems to have been misplaced, I do have the cover sheet, if you post what model you are having issue on I can tell you the serial number that has the mod on it from factory.

I have seen that problem a couple times and have been able to correct it by just cleaning the goop off the slider board under the fingers. No callbacks yet.
