Our dealership is installing 78 machines at a College. 50 or so are TA255's. Easy setup with just a PF-470. They were set up and all functions verified. The last thing before giving them our blessing was to update firmware. Well the first 3 went okay then 4 and 5 had issues.
One unit errored out on I/O firmware. Then when it was reset had a 320 code (I/O communication error). Uploaded the single I/O firmware from the FTP...no dice. Uploaded the I/O with the Main and it worked. Second unit errored on PF firmware. There is no separate file for the PF. Tried a myriad of things. Tech support is convinced it's a connection problem although the damn thing worked UNTIL the firmware was updated. Replaced the PF pwb and it's fixed. Have a 3rd unit that was at a customers site for a few weeks. They called in with jamming in the bridge unit. Tech updated firmware and it errored out on Bridge firmware and hasn't worked since. We had to remove the bridge and finisher. Replaced the bridge and base pwb's, nope still errors out and kicks an 8830 code (bridge communication error) Needless to say I am a little, no a lot hesitant to update firmware on these boxes. Is anyone else having issues with firmware on this series? Z No HOPE, just BROKE. Anyone else - 2012 |

we have had problems with the 2 that we updated firmware in the field on. 1 took out the board on the pf 470 and the other io error c0320.
the one with the io error had a service call, kept saying "toner cartridge not installed" That problem was fixed with a new engine board. both machines are less than 4 months old. POS. |

The PF-470 board that Joedohm mentioned, the firmware was upgraded because the customer was complaining that if a fax was received during a print job, the print job would stop in the middle, the fax would print out, and then the print job would resume. Is anyone having this problem?

Yeees. We use a local office simulator at the shop to test our fax option before it goes out. Had the same problem, firmware fixed it.
GENTLEMEN! PLEASE call KMA and report the serial number, problem and fix otherwise they are not going to know there is a problem. When I called the help there was no logged cases of firmware for this series killing boards. Thanks Z No HOPE, just BROKE. Anyone else - 2012 |

Well, since I'm the Tech That Killed The Bridge Unit When I Updated the Firmware, I Figured I'd Chime In. Another Tech Was There a Week prior and that it was for Jamming in the Bridge Unit. Tech Support gave him a few things to try but never mentioned updating the firmware. I go a week later for more jamming issues in the Bridge Unit and check the firmware and see that it was suppose to address this very jamming issue. Never thought it would KILL it though. Downloaded the firmware and installed it just as prescribed in the service manual. There was no mention of using the "Turbo" version or the regular version. The Firmware Failed at the point where the Bridge/Finisher portion was suppose to occur then upon cycling power it pops the Bridge Communication code. Try the Firmware again and the same thing, at this point I contacted Tech Support and they say that they upgraded theirs fine. I asked them if they had finisher and a bridge unit and they said "No". Well they advised trying the "Turbo" version which also failed. Only thing left to try was to remove the Bridge Unit and finisher and update the firmware again. Firmware installed completely that time and copier working fine with out the finisher and bridge installed but if you install the bridge and finisher back onto the copier, code occurs upon power up.

I had to disconnect the PF-470 so that the customer could use the machine. The board has been on backorder since 8/23/11.

My two upgraded OK, but a lot slower than I might have expected. I think I'm going to hold off on any Hanabi firmware updates until this is resolved.

Well we used the 'turbo' pack on a couple of others and they went fine. So, we'll see.
