Getting black lines from front to rear on a 5530 ONLY WHEN COPYING FROM THE GLASS(every copy). Thin black lines that come in clumps and not always in the same place. Does not happen when you use Document feeder or when doing test prints. Had anoter machine handy so we swapped out scanner motor and scanner motor pcb, ribbon cable, and lamp, and tried replacing coronas(just because).nothing helped. Another wierd thing-when you run a sky shot the lines are white.I think we will try a ccd unit next. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Drum pot. sensor will usually give you complete copy marbling background, then you will have a listing of error codes in sim. mode for the sensor.you need to replace dev. if you change sensor. Clean grid gently in water and soap, ozone runs off. let dry. Replace developer. I don`t think this is an issue anywhere in the scanner area.

Sounds like dirty mirrors

I should probably clarify. the lines are going from front to back of the machine. So if you copied an 8 1/2 X 14 sheet the lines would be going across the page not lengthwise. I thought this would rule out mirrors but I will check anyways. Also the tech said it doesnt happen when doing test prints or when using the document feeder. This sounds pretty weird to me. I am going up this week to take a look at it. any thougts would be appreciated

Check the wires going to the scanner lamp, sounds like a loose connection or broken wire somewhere. Why not just remove and replace the entire scanner assy from the donar macjine?

When I got up there the only difference between using the glass and the doc feeder was that the machine cycled when using the glass. The copier was set to eject face up memory. So I changed the setting to face up speed. Then the lines showed up when using the df also. When you ran 2 copies from df the lines on copies matched so The lines were coming from scanning section but caused by interference from the copier cycling. Relpaced coronas-didnt fix it. Was going to replace the main motor but when I got the covers off and was inspecting ccd cables I noticed the screws on the engine board were loose. I tightened them up and guess what, No more lines. Thank you for your help. TroyL
