I have a KM-3050 with no back light on the display. All the hard keys work and the touch panel keys work fine if you know the panel layout. The customer had this problem a few months ago and upon arrival for service the display touch panel was fine. The issue occurred again and I updated the firmware, swap keyboards with a working machine(this eliminated the keyboard being an issue),check main board connectors and reseated all DIMMs and chips. After hours of trying to diagnose the problem the back light started workig fine. The machine is working for now, but I am sure the problem will come back. Any thoughts or suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

Did you ever resolve this issue? I'm still fighting a black display on a 5050. It started after firmware update. I've installed 2 new DIMM's, white labels and firmware update with a CF card. No luck. I've replaced the board that the panel DIMM plugs into and it came on, but only took part of the firmware update. Turned on with a CFB30 code and now gives black display. I'm thinking new display panel.

Follow-up:

The problem ended up being a connector on the power supply with poor solder connections. Wiggling the connector to one side caused the display backlight to go out, wiggling it the other way made it come back on. Resoldered it and now it works fine.

Also, had another one with a flickering display that ended up being inverter pcb.
