Hello I have a weird problem with a 2530 with the large 300 sheet paper deck. The deck is randomly feeding extra paper resulting in j22 jam codes. Talked to tech support. Their soultions are upodate firmware or new feed clutches. I had one machine with a similar problem in the past. That turned out to be the paper sensor on the bottom of the copier. That has been replaced with no change. So has anyone else had this problem and what did you do to solve it?
I had LCC doing some strange sporratic things and when I took the back cover off of the deck, I found a wire harness contacting the drive motor (which rubbed the insulation from the wire and was grounding it out).
I have seen machines where the feed rollers in the lower feed section of the machines were very glossy and caused some J-22 jams(paper not reaching the correct sensor within the specified time). I cleaned them and the problem stopped. Another problem is the plastic retaining clip pops off the shaft of the feed roller, allowing the clutch to slide back. Usually on the upper shaft. You can wiggle the top feed roller front to back. If it moves to much the bushing on the rear side will drop out. Sometimes you can peek at the right rear corner of the copier and see the clip laying on the frame(down under the paper feed motor). The rollers I'm talking about can be seen on page 2-1-1 of the service manual, numbers 22,23,25,26. One more thing we have seen are the clutches that drive these rollers go bad, usually the upper clutch that drives rollers 22,23. I think the upper roller has more problems because it also is used for tray two feeding. Hope this helps.
The problem is on the machine, but only shows up with the large paper deck. What you need to do is put a spacer behind Feed switch 2 (FSW2). When feeding from the large tray the paper gets just enough slack in it to togle the switch and cause a jam 22.
