Ok we have a 3530 thats been in the field for a year, it's never been flashed and we're having some print quality issues when printing to it. Went to KM and check the flashs available, Damn what a mess.
I basically want to update everything except the fax system(because they don't have it). Is there one of these flash's that covers it all or do I need to download the Language A level 5G, MMI, IB21e, IBVERUP Packet driver, NS30 firmware, Print sys and main firmware ?
Thanks for the help
Jay

Flashing a machine can't be much simpler than Kyocera makes it now.

1)Flash the machine- Main, MMI, Lang. all at once, 3 files.

2)Flash the Print System, 1 file, make sure the CF card is formatted to the Print Sys.

3)Upgrade the IB-21E using the IBVERUP tool via crossover, 1 file for the firmware, 1 file for the tool + if you're using Win NT or 2K you need the Packet Driver installed on the PC you're upgrading from.

Don't worry about the NS-30.

Is the print quality only when printing, or also when copying?

Cool thank you.
Yes it is only when printing. Now here is the problem, when they where printing to there old HP laserjet4 the bunny rabbit looked good. Nice edges, clear picture. But when you print it to the 3530 you could see that the image was blown up to the size its at now. Very pixelated, I mean we are talking pixels that measure 1mm square. WHen you are looking at this picture 1mm pixels look big. So anyway, it looks like crap. Does the KM have RET ? I noticed the HP did.
It would be easy to say well you blew the picture up to much but they have this old piece of junk that handles it nice and this new EXPENSIVE machine that doesn't do so well.
So what do you think ? Will the flash help this or is this something the KM can't?
Thanks
Jay

Do the firmware updates, but for other reasons besides trying to fix the printing. To fix this I believe that you will need to change the driver to print by KPDL instead of PCL. Maybe also install the most current KX driver while you're at it, but I think using KPDL as the print language will do the trick. Warning, printing will slow a little, but pictures will print properly.

The KX driver can be set to use any of 3 different print languages: PCL 5e, PCL XL, and KPDL.

Open the "Properties" of the driver, then click on the "Device Settings" tab along the top. This will be the screen where you configure the optional devices for the printer. The most current version KX driver has 4 buttons near the bottom of the screen, push the upper right one marked "PDL" and select "KPDL" from the menu of the dialog window that opens. It may help to go to the copier and select the printer language on the printer menu. There is a "KPDL Auto" setting which auto detect language, with the default being KPDL.

Alternately, from the KM web site a "KPDL mini" driver can be downloaded. It's a plain, no-frills print driver without all the fancy graphics. It can be found on the newer (ver 7.02 and later) Software Library CD's.

KPDL is Kyocera's own version of PostScript printer language and is the preferred one to use for accurately printing graphics. The color printer drivers install with KPDL by default, the black and white printers install with PCL XL by default.

Ok now we have a new problem.
When you print it is not printing all the proper characters. When you print quotaions you get the letter N or R.
Now normally that would be asosiated with the driver we just upgraded, it is the newest and latest driver.
Anyone else had this problem?
Thanks
Jay

At the copier control panel go into "Printer Default" and change the emulation to "KPDL-AUTO". This will allow characters to print in PCL.

You can lead a horse to water, but a pencil must be lead.
