Look at service mode 429. You can set the density for each individual color and setting "text" "photo".

500ci Light Print or Background
• If you have 500ci machines with either a light print or
background problem perform the following:
– UPDATE to the Latest level firmware.
– Set any settings you changed back to Default.
– U325 Set paper interval MODE1(Default) to MODE4.
– U059 Set Fan Mode MODE2(Default) to MODE3.
– DV refresh in the System menu.
– Color Calibration in the System menu.
– U410 Half tone Auto Adjust.
– U464 PrintRate(B/W) 50(Default) to 100. (If printing 85% or greater B/W)
• *If DV units due for replacement or suspect, replace the DV units. Be sure to perform
adjustment listed on instruction sheet packed in the DV Unit box.
• *If you replaced DV units, you can skip DV refresh.
• *U059 Set Fan mode, when you set to MODE3, Fan Noise level will increase

I now have a 400ci with lite copies. Upgraded to 9.0 (I've done this to several machines so I know it's good) It happened right after performing AC Calibration on the check list. Copies were fine all the way thru registration adj. (nice and dark) After performing 464 AC calibration, all went to s*#t. Copies and internal test prints very light and washed out. It would not perform 410 grey adjust. Can't seem to get back to where it was. Tried reflashing and performing all adjustments again. Even tried downgrading the firmware. Anyone else see this? Any ideas I missed?

Mine usually seem to go light in the low volume areas, I then run the drum, developer refresh, do the calibrations and everything comes back fine.

TonerDog: Did that, tried that. Fiddled all over the place. I can show you the sequence of prints, it was after AC Calibration and there was no way to recover it. Kinda like the KM-5530 DPS adj Sim 126. If it crapped when you did that your only recourse was to replace it.

I ended up having to replace all the DV units to get rid of the problem. Angry

Did you try Techboy's suggestion? This has helped me on a couple of occasions. I got the information from one of the TASKalfa webinars. Good stuff! =^..^=
