What are you guys using to clean the charge rollers? Also having few copiers seem to be having issues with having to clean them fairly often. Never seem to have that issue with Voyagers so wondering if maybe theres something else going on. Customers usually complaining about streaks. From what other techs have said can see the impressions of the charge roller repeating going accross page.Cleaning seems take care of it for a few weeks or so, then comes back.At 102.00 for new charge roller little hesitant to replace them in the problem machines yet. Also given fact predecessor machine didn't seem have issue with virtually same set up.Any input would be appreciated.

Water with a very mild soap if needed. Don't soak them, you will screw up the cleaning sponge below. If needed replace them under warranty. I seem to recall a bulletin on replacement for some reason. Can' seem to find right now, but I'll look for it. Anyone remember a bulletin?

Just run sim U089 gray test patterns in each color. If there's a charge problem you'll see a repeating pattern at 38mm intervals.

I've had good luck with the typical non-ammonia glass cleaner. You need a water based cleaner, not oil based.

Once you start seeing the distinctive gray rings is probably too late to clean. On a similar note, I've seen a few Voyager primary charge rollers get lumpy, producing a polka dot pattern that repeats. =^..^=

Well talked to tech services guy on there also recommended water for cleaning. It definetly takes more then a quick wipe to get it clean. Running the background test on U089 really does show you if you've done a good job or not.I have a few machines that may end up replacing charge rollers, not sure why want warranty whole drum unit though. Has anybody had to replace drum units early much, don't think I've had to replace one yet on Taskalfa. Thanks for all input guys helps to get various input to see if theres better ways to do things.

Yeah....you guys might want to rethink returning the entire drum for a bad charge roller. Kyocera is starting to kick back the drum units like they do for the FS-3900, etc. and telling you to replace the charge roller assy.

No HOPE, just BROKE. Anyone else - 2012

Ditto that! They will kick them back if its just the charge roller.

Well been using water to clean last few rollers and have had fairly good luck. What I'm wondering now is though how often are people having this reoccur after cleaning? How often are you doing this before just ditching the roller and putting in new ones? I have few machines that seem to need cleaning like every few months or less. Then some that have never been cleaned.Starting to lose my faith in Kyocera charge rollers, almost as little as in my Ricoh color charge rollers.Appreciate any comments or ideas. Thanks.

Lightly dampened rag with glass cleaner does the trick, I make it a point whenever I have to pull the front cover off, clean the rollers, it really is amazing what a difference in CQ it makes.

Hey Drew, are you having issues with the toner dusting all over the exterior of the DV units, especially the Black. Man on every call we goto on these things we are making sure to pull the DV units and vacuum all the damn toner dust from the tops or at some point the transfer belt will be able to pick up some of it and put toner blops onto the output.

Eric, i consider that normal, ANY time I have to take the front cover off, all drums and dev's come out, get vacuumed, also the inside machine core, then clean the charge rollers for good measure, seems like a PITA, but it keeps them running.
On a side note, I feel the dev units are just too small, this makes them have to turn faster, which generates a bit of internal pressure, that's what those crap little thin filters are for. Ricoh's have the same thing, but are fatter and made out of a mesh felt material. Something tells me they have to gear down the mixing assy inside the dev, as this is what causes the positive pressure to build up.
