Does anyone know how to disable Auto Drawer Switching on the TASKalfas?

!R! FRPO R1,0; EXIT;
This should work for printing. I'm sure there is a setting somewhere in System Menu for copying.

But I'm trying, Ringo. I'm trying real hard... to be the Shepherd.

well gang, here's the update and downlow. The hotline said there is no way to defeat this feature as the copier is now "Computer Controlled". They said they pointed out this shortcoming to the Japanese engineers when the FalconIII was released and again when the TASKalfa was released. Prescribe won't help me as my customers want this feature for the Fax paper drawer.

I have a workaround that worked on the Falcon III. It may work for your Saturn.

Designate the desired tray as a special media type, like color. Then go into fax settings and specify that same special media type. Leave copy settings to "Any" media type, so copying can also use the same tray.

The only drawback is that the machine requests "Color" paper when fax paper is desired. That was easy enough to teach the endusers.

They're original complaint is that faxes only go into memory if there is not one single sheet of paper in the whole machine. If there is ledger it will print onto ledger, etc. etc.

I have designated drawer 2 as colored paper and also defaulted the fax system to colored paper. this, just as the Falcon III is how we now designate WHAT drawer we want...but guess what..
when that drawer empties, the machine kicks down to the LCT and prints the faxes from there.
The hotline tells me they have been aware of this issue since the release of the F-III and the engineers are unable to solve it because the copiers are now 'Computer Controlled'. I used the 'Contact Us' feature on connect and was refered back to the hotline. The circle of life goes on.......

What happens if you designate the LCT as Bond (or some other) media type?

If you find a good workaround for this I'd like to hear it. =^..^=

BlackCat, correct me if I'm off base here, but if I designate the LCT as Bond at the copier, won't I have to configure the LCT in the Driver with Bond as it's media type? Otherwise the user would have to select it to print from the LCT, right?
Having said that, I think you may have hit on the only viable workaround.

Oh my God! The copier's controlled by a computer!!! Whatever will we do??? In the past I just asked the little green men inside the copier to please just use drawer 2 for fax and they were nice enough to do it (as long as I remembered to bring them a cookie every time I serviced the machine). LMAO

It's sad that a platform that should be easier to address such issues has become an excuse not to address them!

I'd say they're planning on replacing these and aren't interested in updating these beyond what they have to if this is an issue this late in the model's life....

Relax? When?!

Forget the colour.Forget the FRPO now you ahve Wisecore Platform. If your PC is doing the switching then you probably have PCLXL running. If so diable automedia switching under PDL settings in you device settings of the driver. If the machine is drawer switching the it is done in the system menu. There are a couple of things you must do.first you must set a default drawer in the COPY settings.Second in the default settings(Page 3 of the Copy settings)there is a section to make it auto media or the same, here you make it the same. I just got a mental blank sorry, I will check on Monday if that was all. you can stop drawer switching....

SACKH, fax functions are not subject to the same rules as copy & print tray switching, on Wisecore machines. According to the Adv Op manual it is defaulted to auto tray switch regardless of the other paper sizes available, and does not offer a "Disable".

Check it out. It's interesting reading.
