Ok I can see alot of you do not like the kyocera color machines but I need a honest opinion about the Voyager E Series color. I know the original voyager had DV and drum issues. Were these problems fixed like they were suppose to be in the E series model of these machines? I have a customer that just bought one off the internet and wants a contract and I need a little bit of feedback in order to know what price range to give him a contract at.
They have never ran card stock very well the copy quality drops off, after all the updates have been done they have not been running two bad. Still have the fusers and the exit gears going out on them. Make sure you tell him that it is a business color machine.
the fusers dont last and I think they cost $400 I would not put it on a contract

I always offer the customer a contract, but I get to set the pricing. So for 3-cents per page B&W (minimum 10,000 per month), and 15-cents per page color I would be happy to sign you up! what you think it is too high? I am sorry but parts are very expensive for color machines, we can service you Time & Materials. (chuckle, cough) either way you both should be happy. Just be sure there is enough volume, they don't like not being used.
Seriously, the fusers average about 180k-200k for us. Most of ours average 8-12k per month with about 15% being color and they do OK. Most have had the developer and drum drive shaft issues addressed and have been running well for the past year. These are not inexpensive color machines to maintain, they just have business grade color at graphic color pricing.
The drum and developer units continued to get updated part #'s even after the E series was introduced. If they were not already replaced prior to your potential customer's purchase, then they certainly will fail prematurely. Fusers never were properly designed, even after all the updates to that. The transfer belt cleaning drive gear also may or may not have been updated.
Basically, after the warranty is up they are money pits.
Now if you can get the original dealer to transfer the warranty to you, and the customer agrees to pay up front for replacement of all PM kits immediately, then you can at least have warranty on those serialized parts for the next 3 years and may not kick yourself later for taking this on.
