I'm working on a 4035e that is pausing between pages on COPY jobs (prints are fine). I've never seen this, 'cause it always works when I'm there, but the customer describes the problem as:
1. The machine will scan all the originals through the feeder -- anywhere from 5-15. As the copies start to come out, it will print maybe 1 or 2, then pause a second or 2, then print 1,2, or 3, then pause again, then print the rest. She says there is no real pattern, just sometimes it pauses between pages.
2. On a multiple copy job of a single original, the same thing happens. It will print 1 or 2, pause, print some more, pause, etc. etc.
Firmware updated to newest version, checked all settings I could think of, nothing sticks out on this one. Any ideas?
is there a finisher hookup to this machine, we had a new taskalpha doing the same thing, we were in a hurry to deliver so we just put on a new finisher and updated the firmware and it fixed it. ill post more when we troubleshoot the finisher? post up your solution
Really sounds like it's going into color calibration, or in a low-toner state where it's trying to cycle in more. I'm inclined to think toner cycling due to the engine speed of the 4035e. They would not be making full-page color photo copies, would they?

To answer the questions above, there was a finisher, but due to space restraints, the customer removed it.
As for the copy coverage, almost all of what they do is B&W. Forms, packing slips, invoices, occasional letterhead with color logos.
If it is color cal or image cycle, does the machine show the message on the display that it's doing it? I asked her if she's seen any messages or errors, and she said no.
Thanks for the help so far, I'll keep this updated!
HMMM I had a 500ci recently that was very sluggish when printing, had to format the HDD (sim 24) but you have to back up all of your scanning and job accounting data (if you are using those features) first. If you have another HDD that you can swap in to test the theory you may want to try that first unless you are confident in your ability to back things up.
Been there, done that, bought the T-shirt

I haven't done anything with the hard drive, because prints are fine. It's only when copying that the pauses occur. Does the machine use the HDD when copying?
The HDD is used for all aspects of the machine. It constantly writes to the HDD, especially when scanning/copying.. Try sim 989 first, if not reformat it.
