HI All,
I have a CF040 error that I cannot clear. I tried upgrading the firmware but it stops and says High Voltage pcb error. I cannot get in to the Sim codes, no way no how. I tried reseating the Dimm and other cards and connectors. I also tried disconnecting all the periferals. I would hope there is something I can try before being forced to change the engine board or main board. |

This sounds like a situation that I experienced a few months ago. I'll share what happened.
During a firmware upgrade to v 5.00 on a CS-250ci the entire building went dark. A power company emplyee poked his head in the door and explained that there was an unexpected power outage (Really? I hadn't noticed...). He explained that I had nothing to worry about, and power would be back up in a few minutes. When power came back, I powered up the copier and got CF-040 (Engine communication error). I re-tried to flash to v. 5.0 but each time it got to Hi-Voltage Firmware the load would stall and revert to "Hi-Voltage CPU - ERROR". First suggestion from the hotline was to replace the Code DIMM. No joy. It still would not flash. Eventually, I was provided with a special firmware file containing only Engine Firmware and an instruction file. The engine firmware took, then I could load the combined firmware v. 5.0. I can provide the Engine only firmware v. 5.0. You can then load the combined v. 5.0, then upgrade to v. 7.0. As a postscript, I'd like to mention that on the same machine a few months later I started getting CF-249 errors when printing. Sometimes these errors displayed in Portuguese ("Occorreu um erro CF-249"). It was always after receiving a print job or printing a fax reception. For the short term I downgraded the firmware back to v. 5.0. But each time I tried the newer firmware the codes returned. My tech rep pointed me towards the image memory (which solved the problem). My point here is that I believe that the same outage that corrupted the Engine Firmware also damaged the image memory, which didn't start to display symptoms until the newer firmware was loaded. PM, if you want the aforementioned Engine Firmware only v. 5.0 files, or the hotline can provide you with the Engine Firmware only for v. 7.0. I suspect that the Code DIMM didn't fix anything, but the image memory may be damaged. Hope this helps. =^..^= =^..^= |

WOW! It sounds like you have the solution to my problem! I would be really grateful if you could send me the files needed to restore my machine. I currently do not have a copy of Ver 5 so please include that if you could.
P.S. Tech support sent me 2 files that unfortunately didn't work named DL_H2H7.2H7 and H2H7.bin email to rod.oborowsky@cbes.com |

Quick question. Did you try a partial boot(boot switch under the control panel. Then a new firmware dim. Works for me.
