Catch me if you can! |
I've downloaded the current firmware for the series two times now. I'm actually using the Kyocera firmware files on a Toshiba 6520c as I have no way of getting the files from Toshiba. It's a wholesale machine, so it's not a case of a customer's copier being hosed now.
I tried to write the firmware (USB method, don't have access to the flash jig or eproms) and it will error out on the HDD file every time at 17% during the extraction of the file. Error H02 (file extraction error). Used a couple of different thumbdrives at this point (1GB and 2GB) with the same result. Downloaded firmware twice, as stated earlier. Either this is a bad file posted on KMAConnect or else it cannot be used for Toshiba badged machines. Just hoping to find out if anybody has successfully used the current firmware to update a Kyocera machine, or if anybody knows for sure if the firmware cannot work in a Toshiba-badged copier. Or, perhaps somebody has the HDD file that is known good and would be able to send it to my email... (hint, bfhammer1967ATyahoo.com). The reason I was willing to even try this in the first place is that the copier came to us with a problem. When you try to select duplex mode, zoom mode, or original mode from the touch screen, the machine only would beep and not display the sub-menu screen. All else would work. These functions are all available (or were available) from printing. Nobody was able to suggest any kind of solution other than perhaps firmware. This message has been edited. LNorris, were you able to update the machine with just the USB?

Back to the original issue, unable to select modes: have you done everything to reset the machine to factory default, including any administrative lockouts that would have been used to restrict users? Format hdd, etc?
Been there, done that, bought the T-shirt |

Nathan, there is no program to reset these machines to factory defaults. Ran that idea past Keith McManus when I was taking the training earlier this month, confirmed that there is no factory default reset.
No admin lockouts, did not try formatting HDD though. ================================================== Chris L's Hiking/Geocaching blog (new and improved!) yoyoartist.blogspot.com |

Have to bump this up to the top. I still am in dire need of the Toshiba version firmware (e-studio 6520c) and would appreciate if anybody could email me at bfhammer1967@yahoo.com bfhammer1967@yahoo.com to hook me up.
