Has anyone used the tools for re-burning the chips on the imaging units used on the C2030, C3130, C2230 color machines. We are trying to find out if it's cost effective to buy one of these tools. The image units will run more than twice the life of what they are programmed for. If anyone has bought these tools I'm curious what they paid for it. Katon sells one for about $4000 and a company out of Canada has one for about $2000. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

We ship ours off to CopierChip.com.
I believe it's $12.50 per image unit. They've worked great for us.

I don't know what the tool is called. My service manager got an email and brochure from the company and he asked me to research reprogramming the chips.

Thanks for all the input. We decided we are going to use CopierChip.com instead of buying the tool.

You might check this out: http://www.xeltek.com/product.php?productid=16225

Polek and Polek has this advertised on their site. It lists for $279 on the site above. I have no idea how complicated it would be to use, but it beats spending $4,000!

We have been swapping chips in the customer's office instead of doing it at ours. It's a lot less boxes to carry.
