Does anyone know if you need to run sim 411 with the specified test charts when replacing CIS or are they only needed if you run into CQ issues after Dis. & Re. Thanks in advance

Directly from the Replacement proceedures in the service manual for the DP-760

17.When the CIS is replaced with a new one,
carry out the following procedure.
18. Clean the CIS roller and contact glass (CIS).
19. Perform maintenance mode U091 (setting
the white line correction) (see page 1-3-10).
20.Make a test copy of a gray document.
If problems such as white lines appear on
the test copy, repeat the procedure from
steps 18 and 19 onwards until the white
lines no longer appear.
21. Perform maintenance mode U411 (Adjusting
the scanner automatically) (see page 1-3-
15).

I take that as a yes, and you will need the specific chart. P/N: 302AC68243

Thanks elheather although I did CIS today and did not need spacial test chart.I checked with my rep first he said obviously you should use it but you can get away without it. I did everything but 411 and all is well. I did read the info in the service manual prior to your post the reason I questioned if I could get away without it is due to the customer complaining.

Glad you got it taken care of. I remember once when I asked for the Stapler Unit Alignment Jig, my service manager sorta looked at me and said "What, I've never heard of that." I told him I needed it to do the replacement of a staple unit in the finisher attached to an 8030. He thought I was making it up, even after I showed him the part from the service manual that gave the part number for the Jig. Now, yes the staple unit replacement can be accomplished without the Jig, however it is a pain in the ass to get it aligned properly, and an improperly aligned stapler will cause some strange problems.
