I've got a TA 250ci that is throwing a consistent C-7101 code... Upon arriving on site, machine was asking for K toner all the time... Ran and ran and ran and then said replace black toner. While waiting on customer to get another black toner cartridge for me to try, this 7101 code pops up. Turn the machine off and back on... it runs for a few seconds and then pops back up... No biggie... I yank all 4 of the motors off the back and check the fuse. All of them ohm out just fine. Cheat the front door, pull the toners out, run sim 135 and all the motors turn fine. Pull the developer units out and all of them turn fine by hand. Question... are all 4 motors supposed to turn when the machine powers up? The one closest to the bypass turns for about a second and then quits. The other 3 turn all the time. According to the troubleshooting guide, the one to the far left (when looking at the back of the machine) is the color DV motor which has nothing to do with the 7101 code... Am I crazy or....? I saw in one of the earlier posts something about the motor that's actually found in the front up above the exit tray. I noticed that the dv units looked fairly starved for toner but the guide doesn't mention anything about the 7101 with this motor. I don't want to start throwing engine boards and such at this thing without some direction... I do know that the color DV motor doesn't turn after a second or two when powering up but it's also not related to this code. ?????

Yes, all dv. and cleaning motors should be turning. If you can stall one by applying light pressure it's bad.

the ker is right.. i have run into this ame issue a number of times.. usually, if one of the motors in the rear isn't turning or quits, that's your culprit. if the motors are turning and it's still coding, replace the (K) dv unit.. that has fixed most issues with that code in the past.

You need a black dv unit.

Update on this one... The K DV unit was the fix... The motor to the far left still doesn't turn on power up except for about 1 second or so? At any rate, thanks for the responses....

Hi All,

I have a TA250ci with a sporadic C7102, C2102, and C2103. all dev units and PWB's has been replaced without luck. I thought i had fixed it after replacing wiring loom that runs from dev motors- Ready to copy- but after running AC calibration it went back into C7102

I would replace all the developer and cleaning motors.

If at first you don't succeed, redefine success.
