I had a tech accidently pulled usb stick while updating firmware to version 7. He pulled it when it was updating controll panel. Called tech support and they said to order system dimms and update firmware again. No luck, then they installed new controll panel with dimms and to help. Got tech support scratching thier heads. I thought who better to ask then my fellow techs. Confused4

How far does it get before it fails? Does it give an error code? Does it attempt to read the flash drive at all?

But I'm trying, Ringo. I'm trying real hard... to be the Shepherd.

You could try to reset the op panel by changing the position of small switch on the op-panel than power the unit let the memory light stop flashing, put switch back to original position insert usb key repower display might be blank let it go for up to 30 mins. Might solve your problem.

As Benoit said. Have the machine off.Turn the boot switch on the op panel to boot..Turn the machine on and wait for the memory light to stop flashing. Turn the machine off and return the switch to the normal position..Fit a new firmware dim and switch the machine on with a USB in fitted with the latest firmware.. Once this has finished .Turn the machine off an remove the USB. Turn the machine back on and wait for it..It may take a long time but it will recover.

Guys, just to add my comment, you may find using a CF card in the slot next to the HDD is more successful at recovering these than USB. Also, if latest version doesn't work, try going back to V4 to recover and then upgrading to the latest when the machine works - don't know why, but I've had to do this a couple of times.

I should have left it alone!

Thanks Guys, this was helpful. we had a customer whose Taskalfa would only come up to the Welcome screen (they had the machine a month) and we ordered PWB Dimm assy and installed DIMM firmware and Service Pack 8. It solved the problem.
Thanks !!
