Looks like another round of firmware updates. At least the new firmware addresses alot of issues instead of just one or two, especially with the CFxxx errors being generated when printing. Time will tell, I've got some machines on my list to update today so we will see how it goes.

Thanks for being the test subject. I always wait for a week before I upgrade new firmware. Let us know if you see any issues.

First and only machine I got to today went fine, which only means it updated properly and was running when I left the office. I got one in a church that I hope to get to soon, they where getting some weird hang ups in the middle of a larger print run. Copier would halt with a Machine Error displayed, I don't remember exactly which CFxxx code was showing up in the error logs, but it was the same code about 17 times. Will get that one updated and see if it helps them out.

Speeking of updating, we updated a 400ci from 4.0 to 8.01A and had it crash with a CF18A (PF-3000 error. Currently in the process of trying to repair but it now has the locked up welcome screen.

Experience has told me that you need to go via v7 before loading v8, or that does happen. You should be OK if you downgrade back to v4 and then I'd be inclined to go through as many incremental levels as you have access to, but definately v7 must be one of them.

Cheers
S.

I should have left it alone!

You may have to recover this one with a firmware update using a CF card instead now. I believe a 1 or 2 Gig card should work even if it's a multispeed card. I use a 2GB Sandisk care at 20MB/s. Got it at Best Buy in their Camera section. It's gettin harder and harder to find 2GB or smaller CF cards anymore unless you resort to ebay.

It's on the main PWB, inside the back cover. IIRC its under a metal cover to hide it. =^..^=

version 9 now, yes you should be able to recover it via the cf card, but as far as i understand it you dont use the full version of the firmware, just some of the files, once the machine is in this state, then you can start to upgrade again via usb.
there is some offical information on this and it is worthwhile reading as it is quite involved.

best of luck.

it's more like a big ball of wibley-wobbley ... timey-wimey ... stuff.

Upgraded a 250i from version 3 to 9 last Friday with no problems after. The customer did complain of getting blank pages coming out when sending pdf or .dwg files whilst i was there. Anyone had this before ?

Many thanks........ G.

It was my understanding that the C850D wasn't a Kyocera made color machine, but another brand that was rebadged as Kyo. It doesn't even look like a Kyocera on the insides either, and oh ya, it sucked. The KM-C2030 was a Konica Minolta for runner to their color Bizhub line. The KM-C2230 was the first Konica Minolta Color Bizhub C-350. Great color out of these machines, but then again, not made by Kyocera. With the Fiery Controller you couldn't beat the color and good fill. Our company tried to put in one of the Voyager "E" series into a customer to test and they had a KM-C2030. Well the side by side comparison didn't work out so well there. The TaskAlfas have a better output than the Voyagers, but still can't match the rebadged KonicaMinoltas. The fill is much better over all on those machines. We had one customer that was still using his KM-C2030 and kept asking me about upgrading it to one of the new color machines, the TASKAlfas weren't release yet. I kept having to tell him to hold off for a little while, cause I didn't want him to get stuck with a Voyager "E" model. I knew he wouldn't be happy with it. He ended up getting a TASKAlfa and is happy with it. He prints lots of pictures with it and as long as he doesn't mess with the settings that I set him up with, the fill is good and he is happy with it.
