I'm really getting tired of these updates every 2 weeks.

Well, at least it's nothing we have to rush right out to do this time since it only deals with a fax compatability issue, no changes to the Main FW, MMI FW, or any of the others, so they aren't fixing any issues on the machine with this one.

Just for the moment hang fire with it, we have had the PF units not being recognised and it erroring during upgrade. Also, you need to upgrade from V7 anything earlier and it could hang.
Just a thought, but has anybody got any information from KM about this latest version? This message has been edited. Last edited by: niftynigel, it's more like a big ball of wibley-wobbley ... timey-wimey ... stuff. |

I have also had this error when updating from firmware 7.1 to 8 with the PF 2x500 trays installed.
There does seem to be a problem with bulletins. Perhaps it would help holding fire on using the latest firmware until they have brought out the bulletins explaining whats been done first. Version 7.1 seems stable. Only goto version 8 if you need to fit the later FAX unit. Give it a month and perhaps more information will be available |

They always have release notes with the software...
The Firmware is upgraded to prevent a Firmware compatibility issue (C0700 Error) with a Fax System (S)C installed in a 500ci series MFP. The C0700 Error can occur when you are upgrading Firmware using an older version Combined Upgrade Pack of 8.00 or below which contains Fax System (Q) Firmware being loaded on a MFP with the new Fax System (S)C installed. Combined Firmware Pack 8.01 or above must be used when a Fax System (S)C is installed. The combined Firmware Pack 8.01 will include both the Fax System (Q) and Fax System (S)C Firmware and will upgrade each accordingly. Precaution: Fax System (Q) and Fax System (S)C cannot be combined into the same MFP. You must use two Fax System (Q)’s or two Fax System (S)C’s. Fax System (S) and Fax System (S)B are not compatible with a 250ci/300ci/400ci/500ci and for ver.8 Change for the support of the new operation panel(for the LCD with LED back light) Fix for CF186 error code(rarely C6*** error appears) Image failure with data saved to the Box Function. This has been resolved Error when receiving i-FAX from Ricoh LM4500 Login window may not appear if you log out just after login. This has been resolved Auto panel reset may not function. This has been resolved Printing stops if multiple users repeat printing. This has been resolved After the administrator logs in, the log in window may appear again. This has been resolved Outline of a pasted image is printed with certain Adobe IN DESIGN file. This has been resolved Private print preset copy count is ignored and set collectively. I've stayed on top of the firmware for these machines recently because of all the issues that have been addressed and I have never had any problems updating firmware except the first time I did an upgrade to Version 8. It wasn't the firmware though, it was a poor download and even though it seemed to come in fine, the zip file must have been slightly corrupted and when I unpacked it it appeared fine also, updated one machine from the initial firmware, version 6 something i think, and the machine did all sorts of strange things, including powering right back on when you pressed the power button on the op panel. Walked it up one firmware level at a time fine until I hit the version 8 again and the same thing. I had downloaded the version 8 firmware over our wireless access point at our shop, which I had down with all the versions previously with no issues. Re-Downloaded the firmware at the customer location on my PC connected with a patch cable and had no problem with that firmware. I compared the good Zip file with the bad Zip file and found it had come in and was slightly smaller in size than the good one and was also named slightly different. From now on I download connected to the network with a patch cable.

I'm wondering if 8.0 is connected to my problem. None of the Copystar toner cartridges is recognized as OEM, and the black cartridge reads toner empty, even though it's not, and the toner motor doesn't run. All after a firmware upgrade.
I haven't had a chance yet to downgrade the firmware yet. I liked 6.3 myself... =^..^= |

There is a maintenance mode setting in the KM2560s and the some of the others that when changed makes the machine think it's either a Kyocera or a Copystar. Not sure of the number offhand, but that may be your issue. If you print out a status page, what model appears near the top, I wonder if somehow this got changed during one of the upgrades and if your machine thinks it's a Kyocera machine instead of a Copystar, the toners may give you the empty indication. The toner levels in the TAs do not get checked with the old style piezo level sensor, there is an RFID chip near the back of the cartridge that is read by the copier and the copier resets the toner level and starts counting down again. If the RFID chip is damaged or not recognized by the copier the toner level will indicate zero level. The firmware updates addressed toner consumption, many machines where indicating empty toner containers very early. You could tell there was still toner in them but the counter had gone to zero. There is no way to fake out the machine by putting a new toner in the copier then putting the old partial empty toner back in, I already tried.

Yeah, we looked at destination U265 and tried both +2 and +66, neither properly identifies the cartridges. Also looked at U252 Inch/Metric.
All four of these cartridges worked fine before the upgrade, but not after. It's a Copystar CS-500ci =^..^= |

We had to order some CS 3060s once and we needed to change them to KM 3060s because we weren't going to stock the Copystar toner for 2 or 3 machines. We ordered new badges for the front of the copier and they came with an instruction sheet on which item in the maintenance mode to change. I thought we were to change it from a 2 to a 1, but I don't remember which one. I don't think it was the destination setting though. If maintenance mode 265 is the OEM purchasing code and not the destination code, then I think that's the correct maintenance mode item. I thought this should only be either a 1 or a 2 though.

Firmware 6.3 did not solve this problem. When I had changed the engine board last week I yanked hard enough on YC26 to partially disconnect the other end of the harness at the rear frame, that goes to the RFID board and toner motors. Just pushed the connector back on.
I've got to stop shooting myself in the foot... =^..^= |

Had a machine in shop with the same exact issue last week. Also had an issue with the PF-750 message "Install Cassette". Also a technician induced connector issue. |
