I have been upgrading some of our machines to version 12 FW. Most of the time it goes well. Sometimes it will not load and it will sit on the firmware mess. at the top of the screen. I have to turn the main off and reset the thumbdrive and turn it back on and it will work.Wierd and scary because you don`t want the dreaded welcome screen. The ? is. I had one that was version 5 and upgraded great all the way to complete screen. When i did the status page it still said version 5 by the date in the center. But on the right side in small lettering i saw 12. Should i try to reload it.Is it to much of a jump?
Ran into one last week, 230,000 copies and still on Ver 5 ! The machine looked great inside, remind me again about why the bazillion upgrades since then?? Reluctantly upgraded to 10, then to 12 with no prob , had to for the new style dev due in next pm.

I had a scare with a 3050ci firmware the one before 2.04 it went all the way to panel and just blinked away I let it go and it finally came up with panel upgrade failure "missing file" in red. Turned on and off and it worked fine without callback from cutomer.Loaded 2.04 today and went normal.
Had A fun time with a Firmware Upgrade on a TA250ci a week or so ago. Firmware was at level 9 I believe and all I was called out to do was a reconnect because they changed their network completely around and changed IP structure and new PCs also. Well as I was waiting for them to get some of the internal snafu of their network corrected i decided to upgrade to version 12. It installed just fine, but upon powering on the copier after removing the thumb drive it pops a C3210 CIS Lamp Problem code. I haven't even brought in my tool bag to this call so WTF. I notice that this one hasn't been modified with that cable protection piece so I'm thinking that the CIS cable was damaged somehow, but why wait till I update the firmware to start popping the code. I was about to give up on it and order a new cable and plastic protection piece when I was talking to another tech and he said that it was relatively easy to remove the CIS assembly. Well not expecting to find anything there I go ahead and remove it and I remove the flat ribbon cable from the PWB board also and I can tell that it has never been fully seated in it's connector properly, I can see the pressure points in the silver contacts running at an angle. At this point I'm still thinking this can't be the problem since it only started popping the code after updating the firmware. Well I reseated everything properly and reinstalled the CIS unit and got it all put back together and executed the 906 in maintenance mode expecting to get the same code upon power up and low and behold it's working fine. Still don't know why it waited till I upgraded the firmware before it started to pop that code though.
