I've seen it on a couple of Voyagers. It turned out to be a shorting transfer waste toner motor, that was blowing the circuit on the engine PWB.
The funny thing about this is that I swapped the 24v waste toner motor with a 24v cooling fan to see if the motor would run, and it did. And when it connected the fan to the waste toner motor circuit it did not run. I concluded (partly correct) that the motor driver circuit on the engine PWB was blown, but when I replaced the engine PWB it immediately blew the new board.
I could only conclude that the waste toner motor was drawing too much current, damaging the board. When I replaced the waste toner motor and engine PWB as a set the problem was resolved (~550K prints). =^..^=

I saw this problem a couple of weeks ago on a 500ci. There is an auger in the waste toner bottle. The bottle was about 3/4 full, and I could not turn the auger. I replaced the waste toner bottle, ran a U906, and everything seems to be fine now.
i just got this code. Other symptom is waste tank filling up fast. Toner was backed up in transfer unit cleaned it out and machine worked. I asked the customer to observe toner usage. She was printing a 750 page 11x17 bulletin Black only. In the middle of the run the machine prompted her to change the Cyan and Magenta toner. This machine has Ver9 firmware. Going to call the hotline Monday and open a ticket
I had a unit in the field that was throwing a constant C-2810. I troubleshooted the error to the waste toner motor. To confirm, I brought the motor into our shop to try it in another machine and as soon as I powered it up, it blew the motor control circuit in the engine pwb.
I agree, replace them as a set to avoid a costly repair.
