I have had the same thing on one of our machines. Jamming from tray 2 only , about 180 j-18 codes. It gets out of the tray and stops on the side of the machine. I can clean the relay/transport rollers on the side of the machine and mine will run for a period of time. I don't know if it is some sort of static build up or anything crazy like that, but I ordered new relay rollers and installed those last Friday. It hasn't been long enough to know if it has done any good. Our rep for Kyocera had no fixes either(of course). I will re-post after checking with the customer later this week.

Blee, what firmware do you have installed? 24? and does your unit have fax/ if so what version? Looking for a common thread, as i have 3 doing this and common thread seems to be fax.

I will be going back out to the customer tomorrow to check up on them. I think my firmware is currently one version behind 24. I dont remember if that machine has a fax or not ,I will double-check tomorrow and post the jam counts and firmwares next week.

Furnfuz, The firmware for my machine is
Main=22.001
ENGINE=19.002

My machine does have a fax option installed, which by the way the customer is not even using. The machine had ran about 1200 copies since I replaced the relay roller and it has 0 jams on the counter so far at J-18. If for some reason the fax unit is causing this I will definitely ask if it could be removed on this machine.

Update?

I now have a machine that is doing this.

I will put extra springs in vertical feed white rollers and see if this helps.

Yeah Gazoo... didnt help..

I have replaced switches, replaced with newly modded door(this new door has 2 springs for the nylon rollers and a cover at the handle opening), updated firmware and now, replaced the feed motor assy.

Lets see what happens.
