I have a machine that gets out of focus on color copies about every week or two. The registration adjustment (with the chart and value inputs) fixes it but only temporarily. I have done all the goofy steps that bulletin said regarding turning a SIM off, then ON, etc.
Should I be looking at a component instead of adjustments for a long term fix? Thanks in advance |

Make sure you follow the proceedure given with the firmware update to the letter.
Color Registration Proceedure The following procedure must be carried out after upgrading Firmware or any time Color Registration is not consistent between colors. If you fail to perform any of the Steps below in the exact order, Color Registration will not be correct. Procedure Step 1 Reset Color Registration Correction Value 1. Enter Maintenance Mode U467 (Setting the Color Registration Adjustment). 2. Select “Color Registration Adjustment”. 3. Select “OFF”. 4. Press the “Start Key”. 5. Exit Maintenance mode. 6. Re-enter Maintenance mode U467. 7. Select “Color Registration Adjustment”. 8. Select “ON”. 9. Press the “Start Key”. 10. Exit Maintenance mode. STEP 2 Color Calibration and Adjustments 1. Enter the “System Menu/counter”. 2. Select “User Adjustment”. 3. Select “Color Calibration”. 4. Select “ON” 5. At this point the machine will calibrate, “In Color Calibrating Process, Please Wait” will display. 6. When complete, select “Close”. 7. Select “Color Registration”. 8. Enter the Administrator Code “6482”. 9. Select “PRT Chart”. A Color Registration Correction Chart will print. 10. Reference the ZERO on all diagrams on the chart and confirm that the colored line is aligned with the black line. 11. If a correction is necessary (the colored line is NOT aligned with the black line), select “Input Reg Value”. 12. Starting with MH-F. 13. On the MH-F diagram, choose the black line that is the closest aligned with the colored line. 14. Input this value (Example “B”), using the plus and minus keys on the panel. 15. Follow the same steps for the remaining diagrams if necessary, by selecting the “Next Key” (MV, MH-R, CH-F, CV, CH-R, YH-F, YV, YH-R). Note: the Y diagrams require a loop or magnifying glass to see the yellow lines. 16. When finished with the registration adjustment, select “Completed”. 17. Processing Color Calibration, Please Wait will display. The data is being registered. 18. When the data is registered, the Color Registration Calibration screen will display. 19. Select “Prt Chart” again to output the new chart. Confirm on all diagrams that the colored line is aligned with the black line referencing ZERO. (If not, repeat the procedure). Note: The previous Color Registration Value you input will not display on the panel once it is registered. You will always see Zero’s when you return to make additional adjustments. 20. For a more precise and Detailed Adjustment, select “Configuration” and select “Printchart Details”. 21. The Color Registration Chart will print showing 36 Diagrams that can be adjusted for registration. 22. Follow the same adjustment procedure using “Input Value Details” to input the values that align the colored line with the black line. |
