Hi everyone,

I am having a problem with a Voyager KM 3232E with 67,000 total prints.

The problem is happening in a Church. They are trying to print flyers out on cardstock through the bypass tray that are Red(ish) on top, have a picture in the middle, and black with white lettering on the bottom. The prints are weak, splotchy, and washed out. This happens primarily on magenta areas of prints, but I can notice it across all the colors on the page, to a lesser extent. This problem also seems to be happening on 20 lb plain print paper.

When I checked the waste toner bottle, instead of the mostly brown color I am used to seeing, it clearly has a magenta color to it.

This problem isn't just happening on this particular file. Test copies I make come out looking the same way. The problem seems to get worse the more prints in a run are made. Print #1 might look perfect but Print 75 might look much worse. The machine also seems to be going into “Image Cycle” much more than it should.

I updated firmware to latest levels, swapped out the magenta developer and drum units, and swapped out the transfer belt assembly. No Difference. I took the secondary transfer roll out and used emory cloth on the springs that transfer bias to that roll, still no difference. The only other option I can think of would be replacing the secondary transfer roll, which has not been done yet.

Anyone have any other suggestions?

Thanks for the help

Bob

How are they storing their paper? It almost sounds like damp paper except for the fact that it gets worse the more copies you make. You're probably on the right track with the transfer roller.

But I'm trying, Ringo. I'm trying real hard... to be the Shepherd.

I checked the paper weight last eve. while I was there, I think it was 62 lb cardstock. Trying to get word back from my regional rep...see if he has any thoughts. I will probably end up changing secondary transfer roll just to see.

Thanks

I'm having the same problem myself, I take out the units clean the slit glass ect. ~ Run user adjustments but it comes back. My place is a church running abaut 16 sheets folded onto 11/17 around 60 sets at a time. It goes away after cleaning then comes back. Grounding issue? It reminds me of the problem I had when scanning through the adf I would get cyan background and that was a sim adj. 68 I believe. I have the magenta background issue also after long runs~ Repl. drum & DV Unit allready?

Developer and Drum have already been replaced. My problem seems to happen mostly on prints, no copies involved. My regional rep. suggests a new secondary transfer roller and mess with the settings on the bypass tray. Will try and let you know.

We are getting our regional rep involved, coming into the account tomorrow. I will remember to check Sim 037 and try those fans, I never even thought of that aspect of the problem. Thanks!
